Is Apple going to launch the iPhone 12 series on September 30? Some people think so

Apple usually announces its new range of iPhones for the year at its September event. However, this year it has been different. Apple had its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this year and the iPhone SE (2020) launch.

Then came the Apple Event that took place last evening where Apple announced the new Apple Watch Series 6, an affordable Apple Watch SE, iPad Air 4 and the iPad 8th gen along with the Apple One subscription bundle.

There was no mention of the upcoming Apple iPhone 12 series at the event last evening and that hinted at Apple possibly sticking to its October timeline for the launch. This is usually not how Apple does things, but clearly, 2020 is different.

However, while most sources and rumours suggest that there is going to be an event in the second week of October, new rumours have popped up yesterday (not surprising, to be honest). These point towards a possibility of a September 30 event where, some speculate, the iPhone 12 series might be announced.

This speculation comes courtesy Jenna Ezarik on Twitter who shared a little clip from last night’s iPad demo. The clip shows the Apple Pencil being used to etch in a line - “Due to Sept 30th” - that gets highlighted and turned into an event.

“During the #AppleEvent today… do we think this is a sign for when the iPhone announcement will be??!!” tweeted Ezarik.

Ezarik’s tweet has garnered 174 retweets and 2.7K likes so far. Clearly, people are very excited and are willing to latch on to any Easter egg at this point.

To be fair, the iPhone 12 range is definitely one of the most anticipated launches for the year and the fact that Apple has not only delayed it, but also shifted it from its normal “September is for iPhone launches” schedule, iPhone fans are ready to believe anything at this point in time.

While this could be a huge hint that Apple has slyly dropped in, it could also be something of no significance whatsoever except for a part of the iPad demo. Either way, we do not need to wait for too long.
