When it comes to chatting, messaging or sharing any image, audio, video, etc., WhatsApp is one of the most opted options. But now, it is also used to transfer money. Yes, WhatsApp users can share money to people using WhatsApp Payments feature. If you also want to try out this feature, you need a Unified Payment Interface (UPI) account to enable bank-to-bank money transfer while using WhatsApp Payments. UPI is a national payment system developed by the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), and supports most major banks in India.

WhatsApp uses the phone number associated with your account to identify your bank account information. You also need to know that your UPI PIN is a 4 or 6 digit number which you are required to enter before making each payment. Every payment you make is protected by your personal UPI PIN and should not be shared with anyone else. If you already have a UPI PIN for your bank account, you will not be required to create a new UPI PIN in WhatsApp.

However, if you do not remember your UPI PIN then you also have an option to change or set up a new one. You can check out the steps mentioned below to do so:

For Android Users:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap More options.

Step 2: Tap Payments and then select the bank account.

Step 3: Tap Change UPI PIN or Forgot UPI PIN .

Step 4: If you selected Forgot UPI PIN, tap CONTINUE, then enter the last 6-digits of the debit card number and the expiry date. Here you need to note that some banks might require you to enter the CVV number.

Step 5: If you selected Change UPI PIN, enter the existing UPI PIN, enter a new UPI PIN and confirm the new UPI PIN.

For iPhone Users

Step 1: Open WhatsApp Settings and then tap Payments.

Step 2: Tap the bank account and Change UPI PIN or Forgot UPI PIN.

If you selected Forgot UPI PIN, enter the last 6-digits of your debit card number and the expiry date. While if you selected Change UPI PIN, enter the existing UPI PIN, enter a new UPI PIN and confirm the new UPI PIN.
