One of the key changes that Apple made in its iPhone 13 series smartphones is to the battery. All the four models in the iPhone 14 series, that is, the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, feature bigger battery life compared to their 2020 counterparts. In addition to that, Apple also reduced the size of the notch in its iPhone 13 series. Now, reports in the past have indicated that Apple will ditch the notch completely in its iPhone 14 series smartphones and instead, opt for a punch-hole display. Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also tipped the iPhone 14 getting a punch-hole display along with a combination of Touch ID and Face ID biometric authentication system. Now, a new report suggests otherwise.

Tipster Panda (via MySmartPrice) has claimed that Apple will not ditch its infamous notch in its 2022 iPhone models, that is, its iPhone 14 series. Instead, the iPhone maker will reduce the size of the notch by reducing the footprint of the Face ID sensors and its front camera Interestingly, Kuo earlier had claimed that Apple's Pro lineup next year will feature a hole-punch display, whereas the non-Pro models, that is the iPhone 14, will continue to house a notch. Tipster Jon Prosser backed his claim by releasing design renders of the iPhone 14 Pro Max on the day the iPhone 13 series was launched. The images shared by the tipster revealed that the iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with a hole-punch display with the selfie camera being placed in the top centre part of the screen.

Tipster Panda in his post on Weibo, which has now been deleted, also claimed that Touch ID will not be making a comeback in the iPhone 14 series next year, which is unlike a lot of reports that suggested that the iPhone 14 will include a combination of Face ID and Touch ID, which in turn would enhance the overall security of the iPhones and give users the option of unlocking their iPhones via multiple means especially when they are wearing face masks. The tipster claimed that Apple will continue to use Face ID as its primary and the only mode of biometric authentication on its iPhone 14 series models.

In other words, the people who have refused to buy the Apple iPhone 13, preferring to wait for the launch of the ''tech marvel'' iPhone 14, should evaluate their decision all over again.

However, all said and done, iPhone 14 series is still a long way from launch right now and so nothing is set in stone. For all we know, Apple might surprise at the iPhone 14 launch event with features and functionalities that we hadn't even heard of.
