Motorola’s Ibiza shows up on GeekBench with the Snapdragon 480 chip under the hood

The Snapdragon 480 SoC means the Motorola Ibiza is going to be a 5G smartphone and going by the other specs, this should be a budget device.

After launching the Motorola Edge S at the beginning of 2021, Motorola is gearing up to launch more 5G devices this year. The Motorola Edge S was a refreshed flagship device that featured the Snapdragon 870 SoC. The company is now looking to launch some devices for the mid-range, entry-level segment that come with 5G support.

Motorola had launched the Moto G 5G and the Moto G 5G Plus plast year, two mid-range 5G devices, and it has an entry-level 5G device coming up - the Motorola Ibiza.

The new Motorola Ibiza was spotted on the Geekbench website with the XT2137-2 model number, as per reports.

The smartphone comes with the Motorola Ibiza codename and it might be Motorola's first device to come with the Snapdragon 480 SoC under the good. Unveiled last month, the Snapdragon 480 is Qualcomm's most affordable SoC for the 5G segment. So far, only the Vivo Y31s and the Oppo A93 5G have included this SoC in their devices.

The Snapdragon 480 SoC brings the Kryo 460 performance cores based on the Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.0GHz alongside more power-efficient A55 cores working at 1.8GHz, Gizchina reports. This CPU brought in 2,466 points in the single-core test run and 6,223 points in the multi-core department. These numbers might seem high since they were attained on the Geekbench 4 tests. Geekbench 5 tests will show lower figures.

Other specifications show a 6GB RAM, a waterdrop notch display with HD+ resolution and potentially a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charge support.

The new Geekbench information coincides with a previous listing on Wi-Fi Alliance that revealed that the Motorola Ibiza will come with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and will run Android 11 straight out of the box.
