Realme has already started working on the next generation of handsets - Realme 8, according to the company's India and Europe CEO, Madhav Sheth. The handset's existence was teased by him recently on Twitter in a couple of tweets with the hashtag ‘InfiniteLeapWith8'. In the first tweet, Sheth stated “Work never stops at #realme. I am already working on #InfiniteLeapWith8!” along with an infinity sign, which also indicated the number ‘8'. However, in the second tweet, he revealed one of the key features coming in the Realme 8 series - 108-megapixel cameras. The tweet was straightforward as Sheth mentioned “A great breakthrough ahead! Do you guys know what 108 stands for? Stay tuned, unveiling tomorrow,” along with the same #InfiniteLeapWith8 hashtag.

Rumours suggest the Realme 8 to come powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 720 SoC along with 8GB RAM. You may also get a high refresh rate and Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box. Going by the Realme 7 series, the 8 series may also get a ‘Pro' variant.

While all these are rumours and speculations for now, we may see Sheth tweeting some more tid-bits about the upcoming handset series, in the coming days.

For now, all eyes seem to be on the Realme GT flagship smartphone, which got recently announced by the firm during MWC Shanghai. The smartphone is said to feature Stainless Steel cooling tech and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.

However, the teasing of Realme 8 seems to fall in line with the company's ‘Dual Platform Dual Flagship' strategy, which was introduced during the announcement of Realme GT. Realme says that it will adopt both Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series and MediaTek's flagship Dimensity series 5G platform, and will release two flagship series. While one of them will be focusing on the performance aspect, the other one will have a focus on the camera technology, which in this case could be the Realme 8 series with 108-megapixel camera.
