Popular dating service Tinder has announced the launch of a new live event feature to help users get matched with people who share common interests. Called “Vibes” the new feature will involve a series of questions that users can answer and will show up on their chats.

The new Vibes feature isn't the first time Tinder has tried a public event of this sort in order to increase interaction on its dating platform – last year, it ran a series of events called Swipe Night that involved an interactive choose-your-adventure video storyline about the world ending, where users had to make decisions that would influence the ending. Tinder says over 13 million users took part in the event.

Unlike Swipe Night, however, Vibes are designed to be interactive in a different manner, allowing users to answer questions that can be related to their personal preferences, TV shows, movies, music and more. Responses to these questions will then appear on users' profiles, for a period of three days.

When a user who took part in a Vibes event matches with another user who also participated, the chat window that they are used to will be populated with details from their replies — Tinder is calling this “Mutual Vibes”. The new feature could help users strike up more interesting conversations, and is expected to see high engagement like Swipe Night which saw millions of users participate last year.

While a Vibes event will be live for a period of 48 hours, users who participate in the event will have the responses available for 72 hours, so it seems that users would be likely to begin participating in the event as early as possible. After those answers disappear, Tinder users will have to wait until the next event begins to answer new questions that will appear on their profile again. The new Vibes feature has begun rolling out now and the company says it will be available to all Tinder users around the world by the end of the month.
