Over the last few weeks, there have been a lot of rumors emerging around the upcoming iPhone SE 3 or the iPhone SE 2022. And why not? If various leaks are to be believed, the third generation of Apple's budget smartphone series will hit the markets by April or May, 2022. One report from the French site Cosmonac even claims that iPhone SE 3 has already acquired all necessary Russian certifications. So with all being said, let us check out everything we know about the expected iPhone SE 3 price, specs and launch date.

iPhone SE 3 will be the third instalment of Apple's budget iPhone SE (Special Edition) series. The company released the first generation iPhone SE in 2016. iPhone SE (2020) and now after two years, Apple is set to launch the third generation of the series and it is making waves as experts have predicted that it is likely to be affordable, have some great specification and that it will steal millions of users away from the Android smartphone universe. On January 19, Ross Young, an analyst and a reliable source for Apple-centric news offered more details on the smartphone launch. Posting on Twitter, he said, “Apple 5G SE model starting panel production this month. Phone production likely from March. This means a launch is likely for 2H April/early May with shipments from late April or early May.” So, it seems that iPhone SE 3 (Apple 5G SE) should be available in the market in the week of 25-30 April, 2022.

iPhone SE 2020 is a powerful smartphone with a sleek look which still stands up to scrutiny well even after two years. iPhone SE 3 needs to come out with all guns blazing if it intends to surprise fans with similar quality. If reports of Macotakara are to be believed, that might be exactly what Apple is planning. According to the report, iPhone SE 3 will receive the powerful A15 bionic chipset, an upgrade from its predecessor's A12 chipset. Apple released A15 chipset with iPhone 13 series and it is the latest and most powerful chipset to come out of Apple factories.

Another major upgrade this smartphone may see is 5G connectivity. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in her note to investors that iPhone SE 3 will be the “cheapest 5G phone ever”. It was reported by MacRumors as well.

On December 9, 2021, Kuo came forward with more information regarding iPhone SE 3. As reported by MacRumors, Kuo said that the new smartphone's model will be based on the current iPhone SE (2020) with a 4.7-inch screen and a physical touch ID button. It can be a little disappointing for some fans as iPhone SE is based on iPhone 8's design language, which can be quite dated in 2022. However, a silver lining could be that “it will likely be the last iPhone with a Home button.”

However, new renders have emerged last week that claim that iPhone SE 3 may have a body inspired from iPhone XR. Reported by Tom's Guide, the images show the smartphone to have a rounded rectangular shape with display notch and a single rear camera.

There are some rumors around the third generation budget iPhone's name as well. On January 17, Young claimed in a tweet that the new iPhone SE will be named iPhone SE+ 5G.

iPhone SE 3 price

There has not been any concrete news regarding iPhone SE 3 price range except the general acceptance of the fact that it will be 'affordable'. However, in a report by Reuters, analysts from JP Morgan have claimed that the new budget iPhone SE 3 can attract more than a billion mid-end android users. This piece of information is relevant because if Apple is targeting mid-end android users then it cannot place its price range too far in the north. JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee stated that based on the projections, iPhone SE 3 can have a starting price between $269 and $399. A quick conversion to INR tells us that this puts iPhone SE 3 in the range between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000. However, such conversions are not very useful as Apple will have different prices for different regions depending on the overhead costs. But at least, this number gives us a rough estimate of where the upcoming iPhone SE 3 will be placed among other smartphones.
