The year 2020 is coming to an end. Ahead of the new year, Twitter shared key statistics about its platform. The microblogging platform shared that its user base witnessed a 29% growth year-over-year. The company also shared that its user base, which was driven by the global conversation around current events and product improvements, stood at 187 million.

In addition to this, Twitter also shared the top features that it shared this year. Take a peek:

Earlier this month, Twitter rolled out Snapchat integration on its platform. This feature enables users to share their Tweets directly on Snapchat.

Twitter Topics

Twitter, back in October this year, rolled out a feature called Topics. This feature enables users to follow specific subjects of their interest, allowing them to see more content on these subjects on their timeline. This feature is available in India in Hindi and in English. Twitter says that as of now, around 70 million accounts are following Topics.

Quote Tweet

The company, back in September, Twitter rolled out 'Quote Tweets' on the main Tweet display. Following this update, Retweets with comments are now called ‘Quote Tweets' and they encourage Tweeps to consider why they are amplifying a Tweet, and brings more thoughts, reactions, and perspectives to the conversation.

New Conversation Settings

Twitter, in August, introduced a new conversation setting, which people can use to choose who can reply to their Tweet and join their conversation so that unwanted replies do not get in the way of meaningful conversations. Twitter says that saw around 43 million Tweets created with conversation settings and over half of these use the “people I follow” option.

Bio Translations

In the same month, Twitter also rolled out a translation option for profile bios that are in a language other than the one that users use on the service. The translation makes it easier for Twitter users to connect and engage in conversations with people from different cultures and languages.

Twitter Lists

Twitter, back in June this year, rolled out advancements to its feature called Lists. This feature allows people to add new voices and conversations to their Timeline through Lists. Also, while sharing a List on one's timeline, users can get creative and add cards with images instead of boring URLs.

Voice Tweets

Now, this is a big one! Twitter in June this year started testing a new feature called voice Tweets that enables users to share tweets with their voice. As of now, the feature is available to iOS users.

Fleets

Another important feature that Twitter rolled out on its platform is called Fleets. For those of you who don't know, Fleets allow people to share Instagram-like Stories on its platform. Twitter launched Fleets globally last month.
