BSNL 187 plan revised: More data, validity to beat Jio, Airtel prepaid plans

BSNL has revised its ₹187 plan to include more data and longer validity than before. The plan competes with popular prepaid plans of the same nature.

BSNL 187 plan revised: To stay competitive telecom market, state-owned operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has revised one of its most popular plans. The BSNL 187 plan has been refreshed and BSNL has increased the benefits notably. With the revisions, the BSNL ₹187 plan is now a much better proposition over plans from rivals.

The BSNL 187 plan keeps most of the core benefits similar, except for a couple of changes. The plan continues offer unlimited calls across Local /STD numbers and national roaming across MTNL networks. The plan also continues to offer 100 free SMS messages per day.

However, the changes come in the data and validity parts. The BSNL 187 plan comes now with 28 days of validity instead of the previous 24 days. Additionally, the data benefits have been increased to 2GB per day. Note that this plan is only available for subscribers in Kerala only.

The BSNL plan compares nicely with similar plans from rival operators. A similar plan from Airtel offers 1GB data per day, unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day, and a total validity of 24 days. While the basic benefits are lower, Airtel is offering 30 days subscription to Amazon Prime Video Mobile, Airtel XStream, Wynk Music, and Hello Tunes.

On the other hand, Jio is offering similar benefits for the ₹199 pack. You get up to 1.5GB of daily data, unlimited calls, and 24 days validity. Like Airtel, Jio offers subscription to JioTV, Jio Cinema, Jio News, Jio Security, and Jio Cloud. Vodafone Idea (Vi) is offering 1GB of data, unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, and access to Vi Movies in the plan for a similar price.
