Can’t remember song name or artist? Spotify will now let you search using lyrics
If you can remember nothing of a song except a few words of its lyrics, Spotify will let you search for it with just that.
It has happened to all of us at some point when we can remember nothing more of a song except a few words of the lyrics. Cannot recall the name of the song and neither the name of the artist or the band. Spotify is coming to our rescue at moments like these by letting users search for songs by lyrics on both Android and iOS, reports 9to5Mac.
How does it work? It's pretty simple actually.
You need to type in the lyrics you remember into Spotify's search bar and the app will pull up the songs that match. The tracks that could be the songs you are looking for will come with the ‘Lyrics match” tag. This feature was shared by Spotify designer Lin Wang, who tweeted about it.

A feature like this one is pretty handy given that many of us often remember a line from the chorus but do not recall the name of the song or who has sung it. And clearly did not have the presence of mind or the time to Shazam/Soundhound it. Thankfully, for moments like these, Spotify can take care of that one line that's stuck in your head.

While this is a new feature for Spotify, it is playing catch-up with Apple Music in this case because the latter has had this feature since 2018.
Also, this is not the only lyrics-related feature that Spotify has added recently. They introduced real-time lyrics from Musixmatch in June this year - a feature that is available in 26 of its markets. This too is a feature that Apple Music has had since iOS 13.
