A Delhi court has ordered several social networking companies like Facebook, Google and Orkut to remove some pictures from their websites.

The court of administrative civil judge Mukesh Kumar was hearing a petition filed by Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi who objected to images hurting religious sentiments.

The court said: 'The defendants are directed to remove the photographs from their social networking sites'.

The court ruling came after viewing photographs shown by Qasmi, which the court said had 'content of defamation and derogation against the sentiments of every community.'
