On July 24, a tweet was shared by Sahil Karnany, a Bengaluru-based techie, where he posted a horrific picture of pizza maker Domino's kitchen where the pizza dough could be seen kept right under a mop. Karnany wrote, “This is how @dominos_india serves us fresh Pizza! Very disgusted”, tagging FSSAI, ministry of health and concerned ministers. The Twitter post has since gone viral and has drawn a lot of criticism for the popular pizza chain restaurant. Now, on August 14, the official Twitter handle of Domino's finally made a public statement regarding the issue.

Reacting to the viral post, Domino's India tweeted on August 14, “We adhere to stringent world-class protocols for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. We have zero tolerance for violations of these operating standards. The incident brought to our notice will be thoroughly investigated and basis the findings appropriate measures will be rolled out. Rest assured we remain committed to doing everything necessary towards ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers”.

While the official statement came almost a month later, responding to a news article, the support Twitter handle of the company reached out to Sahil on his post on the very same day.

The next day, on August 15, the company released another statement, claiming a strong action has been taken against the restaurant responsible. The statement noted, "Domino's adheres to world-class protocols for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.

An incident involving one of our stores was recently brought to our notice. We want to assert that this is an isolated incident, and we have taken the strictest action against the restaurant in question. Please be informed that we have zero tolerance for violations of our high safety standards.

Rest assured we remain committed to doing everything necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers".
