Google Assistant becomes 10 times faster, no need to say ‘Hey Google’ all the time

At I/O 2019, Google announced new features coming to Assistant. The AI-based Google Assistant is up to now ten times faster and can perform tasks simultaneously. Google also announced the extension of Duplex to more tasks like bookings.

Google demonstrated its new and faster Assistant at I/O 2019. With 'Continued Conversation' Google Assistant can now multi-task without having to say 'He Google' every single time. It can now perform tasks like book a cab, send a message, open apps and more, simultaneously. This version of Google Assistant will be available to the new Pixel phones later this year.

Google Assistant will now be able to make bookings for users with information from their calendars. In a demonstration shown by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Google Assistant uses Duplex to book a cab using travel details from the user's calendar. Google Assistant adds all travel details and books the cab. The user then has to confirm information with one tap.

Google has started testing this Duplex feature, and it will be available later this year in English in the U.S. and U.K. At the time of launch, Google Assistant Duplex will be capable of renting car bookings and movie tickets.
