Google Doodle today celebrates International Women's Day 2022 with a slideshow
Google Doodle today displays an animated slideshow to mark International Women's Day 2022!
Search engine giant Google has dedicated a special Doodle today to mark International Women's day 2022. The Google Doodle today celebrates this special day with animated videos featuring women and highlighting their diverse roles in society - from homemakers to scientists. The Google Doodle animated videos start off with a mother working on a laptop even as she is simultaneously taking care of her child. This video is followed by a woman watering plants, a woman directing a surgery in a hospital, and other women essaying various important roles. Today's Google Doodle has been illustrated by Doodle Art Director Thoka Maer.
Sharing her thoughts on the International Women's Day 2022 Doodle, Maer explained how the last couple of years have been hard for everyone, especially for women. She said, “We usually celebrate women and their incredible accomplishments in the past and present, and inspire young girls to dream big. The reality of the last couple of years has forced women to shift focus, adjust priorities and make sacrifices to be there for others who need them.”
She further said that women should be able to choose the lives they want to live and receive all the respect they deserve. From staying at home to make the whole world for her children to a CEO making innovation and keeping her employees motivated and happy, women excel in almost every role. She further added, “We all wake up in the morning and we all have a purpose, big or small. It all matters.”
Every year, International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 to recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide. The day was first observed in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911.
