The 2015 International CES doesn't officially get underway until Tuesday but the show's first trend -- curved computer monitors -- looks to be in full effect.

As with its TVs, Samsung has already been putting a curve into its desktop monitors for a number of months and even unveiled one of the models heading to CES, the 34-inch SE790C, back on December 21.

Two weeks on, Samsung has added 24-inch, 27-inch, 29-inch and 32-inch curved displays to the line-up and a TV-ready 27-inch display, the TD590C, all of which Samsung believes will work together to usher curved screen computer monitors into the mainstream as they create a more immersive viewing and gaming experience and simplify multitasking.

'Combined with superior picture quality, productivity and entertainment-enhancing technology features, and design sophistication, our latest curved monitor delivers on our brand promise to push the limits of what display solutions and innovative technology can deliver,' said Seoggi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics.

Not all companies are sold on the benefits of curving a TV display and in the lead up to this year's CES US TV brand Vizio has been running a parody ad campaign about a new headset it is planning that will flatten out a curved screen TV so that everyone in the room can watch TV together.

However, curved displays are gaining support from some notable companies, including HP who took the wraps off two of its own displays, the Pavilion 27c+ and EliteDisplay S270c, ahead of their official CES debut. Both displays can mirror content form a smartphone or tablet but only offer a 'traditional 16:9 aspect ratio (the same as a traditional TV) rather than Samsung's more adventurous 21:9.

However, both screen do have integrated speakers, offer a better than HD resolution and will cost just $400 when they go on sale this month.
