Netflix makes it easier to understand parental controls in Hindi
Netflix has released illustrations of step-by-step guides for parental controls in Hindi.
Netflix updated its parental controls last year seeing how the pandemic increased screen time. In India, the screen time among kids from the age group of 5 to 10 increased by 100% since last year, according to an OLX survey. To make its parental controls more accessible, Netflix has launched a step-by-step guide for Indian parents in Hindi.
Netflix has created shareable illustrations of its parental control tools in Hindi, Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese. These graphics have step-by-step guides for these parental tools -
How to set up a kids profile
How to choose maturity ratings or block specific series and films
How to lock profiles on your account using a protected PIN
How to turn autoplay on or off
How to access viewing history for a children’s profile
“Streaming services encourage more diversity in storytelling, including lesser told stories, to suit different moods of the audience. We believe that it’s important to give consumers the freedom to choose what they want to watch and the tools, including synopsis, maturity age rating and parental controls, to make the best viewing decisions for them and their families,” a Netflix spokesperson said.

Parental control tools across different streaming services are used by 74% Indian parents, according to data from Family Online Safety Institute Survey, 2020. The survey also found that 58% of Indians feel that parents and caregivers have the most responsibility in managing their children’s online experiences.
Netflix’s parental control tools include PIN protection for individual profiles so kids don’t have access to them, filter titles that are not age appropriate, and remove series or films so they don’t show up anywhere in that profile.
