Imagine a normal flat panel TV capable of 3D video rendition and allowing 2D images to be converted to 3D from Blu-ray.
Imagine a normal flat panel TV capable of 3D video rendition and allowing 2D images to be converted to 3D from Blu-ray. Two companies — Altera and DDD — are working on precisely this revolution.
DDD is hoping its TriDef technology will set the next standard in 3D home entertainment. If this technology works, it could open up a new direct-to-home distribution channel for the latest generation of 3D movies in production for the growing 3D digital cinema market.
The technology will be displayed on the Hyundai IT 46-inch 3D LCD HDTV at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show at the Las Vegas Convention Centre next month.
