The dust has barely settled about all the major announcements made by Chairman Mukesh Ambani during the Reliance Industries AGM regarding Jio Phone Next as well as 5G and already there is another big news for the public. Reliance Jio has launched a new 3,499 prepaid data plan (annual). However, this time, there was no announcements at all and it was done very quietly indeed.

So, what is this new Reliance Jio 3,499 prepaid data plan? The new Jio plan will provide 3 GB of high speed internet per day, and since it is an annual plan, it will be valid for the entire year. How much data is Reliance Jio providing for the entire year in its 3,499 plan - 1,095 GB! That is a massive amount of data to fulfill all needs. However, if users manage to exhaust their 3 GB daily data limit then their internet speed will be slashed to 64 Kbps.

Also, on offer in this 3,499 prepaid plan are unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day with the plan plus access to JioTV, JioCinema, JioCloud etc. This plan has also marked a first for Reliance Jio. It has become the first private telecom company in India that has moved beyond the previous highest mark to offer 3GB daily data for 1 full year.

And, even as it looks to steamroll its rivals with its cheap data plans, Reliance Jio is also moving fast to bring out some cutting edge, affordable, hardware. We are referring to Jio Phone Next, which is expected to be cheap and take the world of feature phones by storm. That it is building up a strong momentum is clear from the fact that it is doing so in partnership with Google. CEO Sundar Pichai sounded extremely positive about the phone and the impact it will have on the Indian users, especially the 300 million of them who are on feature phones.
