Tesla CEO Elon Musk may have taken a 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter today, but just a few months ago, he had branded India-born Parag Agrawal as Soviet era Russian dictator Joseph Stalin. The reason? Because Agrawal had just replaced Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey after he resigned. Dorsey had unexpectedly resigned in November. Dorsey's exit from Twitter had come as a shock to most analysts around the world. The shock factor also spanned Agrawal, who became the new CEO of Twitter, much to the surprise of many.

Elon Musk had taken to Twitter, after Twitter announced that Agrawal was taking over from Dorsey as Twitter's CEO, and posted a shocking tweet. In the horrific meme, Agrawal, as Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, was seen shoving, Dorsey, pictured as Soviet secret police head Nikolai Yezhov, into the river they were walking next to.

The announcement of Elon Musk taking a massive stake in Twitter to emerge as its biggest single shareholder will add tremendous pressure on Parag Agrawal. Notably, Agrawal is saddled with the responsibility of increasing accountability at Twitter, make decision-making faster and to speed up product execution.

It is Agrawal's responsibility to meet the ambitious goals for growth set for Twitter including increasing annual revenue to $7.5 billion. Not just that, he must also boost Twitter user-count to 315 million daily users by the end of 2023.

The meme tweeted by Musk was that of a picture of Stalin and his companion whom he had allegedly murdered.

Stalin's murder of Yezhov and Musk Meme

The original photo, taken in 1937, showed Stalin walking next to Nikolai Yezhov, his right-hand man. Stalin had reportedly got Yezhov assassinated and then removed him from this photo itself. Stalin was furious at Yezhov, suspecting him of trying to assassinate him.

Musk, in his meme, showed 2 photos. In one he had superimposed photo of Agrawal and Dorsey on Stalin and Yezhov's faces walking next to river. In the second photo, there was just Agrawal left and Dorsey had disappeared. If you look at the river, there is a tell-tale splash there, indicating Agrawal had pushed Dorsey there!
