Spotify bugs galore: Songs grayed out, missing friends activity, and more

Spotify bugs are endless! The world's most popular music streaming service consistently sees complaints from users on Reddit and several other forums. Spotify is available across multiple platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows, gaming consoles, and a few others. However, the bugs are most notably seen on mobile devices, a platform where users use it the most.

Lately, a couple of commonly occurring issues have come up regarding the availability of songs, login issues, and unable to see friends activity. Several Spotify users have shared their experiences on online forums about how these bugs are hampering their experience. Spotify is yet to respond to these issues and suggest a fix.

Hence, you can either wait for the company fix the bugs, or look at some cheaper yet better alternatives available in the market right now.

Spotify bugs hamper user experience

A common bug visible with Spotify on iOS users is the issue of greyed out songs. “A lot of songs have been greyed out on my Spotify playlists which I have only just discovered. I went on to my “Discover Weekly” and the whole playlist was greyed out, but when I pressed play, it started to play the greyed out songs, but I could not select them individually to play. I was also able to search for a song that was greyed out in one of my playlists and played it from search. Can someone explain whats happening here?” wrote one user.

Another issue seen more commonly is the removal of the friends' activity feature. "It stopped working a few weeks ago. Now it just shows a screen where it says “Let friends and followers on Spotify see what you're listening to.” My setting is on for allowing friends to see what I'm listening to and my friends have it on as well. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling spotify, restarting my laptop, logging in and out several times in a row to try to force a sync but nothing is working,' writes another Spotify user.

Other than this, several users have also complained about login issues on mobile devices. Spotify is yet to acknowledge these issues and bugs, there's no clarity as to when these bugs will eb squashed. In fact, some of these complaints have been removed from the Spotify channel moderators on Reddit.
