The mobile app developed by the city techies is able to send the exact location of the user with the panic message in case of an emergency.

"The alert message also notes the exact GPRS location of the victim and going forward, we are working on making the application record a video of the location that will automatically attach with the messages," said Bhatnagar, while demonstrating the use of application to women employees.

"We worked overtime, at times from remote locations over a period of five weeks. While six of us were involved in the application development, three others worked on quality assurance," said Priyanka Singh, another member of the group.

According to the software firm's managing director Vinod Sood, these women employees were motivated to develop a safety application after the December 16 Delhi gang-rape incident.

"To use the mobile app, one only needs to download it from Google Play store, configure the SMS, call and Facebook settings and creating the shortcut on phone's power button," said Sood, adding that he would pitch for a pan IT-BPO industry use of this application.
