OnePlus has released the patch to fix Android horrific Stagefright bug that essentially lets hackers take over your device with a single specially-crafted MMS message.

One its official forum, OnePlus urges users to upgrade to the newest version of OxygenOS to protect themselves.

'If you are currently using OxygenOS, I would highly recommend upgrading to this version for your own safety,' writes an administrator.

OnePlus has also provided this helpful step-by-step guide about installing the update for users who've stayed back on Cyanogen, the operating system the OnePlus One first shipped with and recommends backing up all your data first.

OnePlus is one of the several Android phone makers trying to deal with Stagefright. Last week, Google released a second patch for its Nexus line of smartphones after the first patch was unable to detect the vulnerability. Smasung, LG and Motorola have all released Stagefright patches for their devices.
