The much-rumored Google smartphone, being developed in partnership with Motorola, will contain features never before seen in a phone and will directly compete with Apple and Samsung.

Sources at Australian telecoms firm Telstra who spoke to SmartHouse claim the X-Phone has 'software features and capabilities that are not available on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or Apple iPhone. The software is really powerful and it pulls together Google services like no other manufacturer has done in the past.'

Other sources at the company claim that Telstra's CTO, Hugh Bradlow, has told senior staff that the phone is a 'real breakthrough, a game changer that will put pressure on Samsung and Apple.'

Expected to be officially unveiled at Google's I/O conference on May 15, the X-Phone is also purported to have a large flexible screen and incredible battery stamina according to the Wall Street Journal, which has been tracking the story since December. The newspaper also claims the Google/Motorola partnership will eventually yield an X Tablet as well as the aforementioned phone.
