Apple M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini have a Fast User Switching bug

It looks like some Apple M1 Mac users are facing issues with the Fast User Switching bug. The bug is said to activate the screensaver, not letting the user dismiss it. In case you are unaware, in macOS Big Sur, the Fast User Switching feature lets you quickly move between user accounts, without spending extra seconds in logging out completely. However, based on some posts made by users on Macrumors forums, Apple's community forum and on Reddit, it seems like the screensaver can sometimes take over the entire screen of the M1-based MacBook devices, leaving the workspace completely unavailable. 

Some have even pointed out that the screensaver does appear on the screen along with the moving mouse pointer but that also doesn't work.

The users have to close and reopen the lid on their MacBook Air and MacBook Pro devices or light press the Power button, or use the alt-command-Q key combination to reach the login page again and continue working.

The only temporary solution right now is to switch off or disable the Fast User Switching feature. However, this leaves the login feature inaccessible. Some have even tried to disable the screensaver in system preferences for all users but that also doesn't seem to make a difference. 

This issue seems to have cropped up in all three M1-based Mac devices - MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the Mac Mini. It is also said to occur on all versions of macOS Big Sur including the new 11.1 update.

However, looking at Apple's history of fixing bugs as quickly as possible, users might expect a maintenance update in the coming days.
