Dell Alienware launches AMD 5000 series gaming laptop, first non-Intel device in over a decade

Dell’s gaming laptop and component arm, Alienware has launched its first AMD-based gaming laptop in over a decade. Called redesigned Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 and Dell G15 Ryzen Edition, the two laptops feature NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs and AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 H-series mobile processors. In addition, the firm has introduced a new suite of Dell Gaming monitors as well.

Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 will go on sale in the US starting April 20 with $2229.99 base price. The Dell G15 Ryzen Edition will go on sale from May 4, starting at $899.99, whereas the 10th-gen Intel-based model will go on sale from April 13, starting $899.99.

The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 is a 15-inch gaming laptop that comes in either QHD resolution with 240Hz refresh rate or FHD resolution with 360Hz refresh rate. It also has user-upgradable 3200Mhz DDR4 memory, which is also a first time for an Alienware 15-inch notebook.

There’s also a new design feature called Dark Core. As mentioned by the firm, this feature “darkens the interior shade of the laptop to minimize distractions and keep your head in the game.” What’s more is that the notebook has a High-Endurance paint formula with increased stain-resistance. The mechanical keyboard is co-developed with Cherry MX.

Dell G15 Ryzen Edition is a 15-inch laptop that sports a two-sided, narrow-bezel screen and uses low VOC waterborne paint. It has the same Alienware-inspired thermal design and has a user-upgradeable 3200Mhz DDR4 memory. In addition, you get “Game Shift” functional key that boosts the cooling performance. It comes with 120Hz or 165Hz panels along with a 360Hz display model, which is coming later this spring.

As for the gaming monitors, the company has introduced Dell 25 Gaming Monitor (S2522HG), Dell 27 and 32 Curved Gaming Monitors (S2722DGM and S3222DGM) and Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor (S3422DWG).

The Dell 25 Gaming Monitor (S2522HG) has 240Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time and Fast IPS tech for better clarity. It also features both NVIDIA G-SYNC certification and AMD FreeSync. This will be available in Asia Pacific & Japan on June 22. Dell 27 and 32 Curved Gaming Monitors (S2722DGM and S3222DGM) have QHD resolution along with 165Hz refresh rate and 2ms response time. These will be available in the US starting June 22. The Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor (S3422DWG) has a curved WQHD 34-inch display along with VESA DisplayHDR 400 and 90% DCI-P3 color coverage. It also has 144Hz refresh rate and will be available in Asia Pacific & Japan on June 22.
