Microsoft fixes Windows 10 drive corrupt vulnerability with latest update

Back in January it was reported that a vulnerability in Windows 10 allowed hackers to corrupt the NTFS formatted drive. As mentioned by Betanews, all it required was a change in folder name. Although a solution with Chkdsk utility did exist, it wasn’t a full-fledged solution. However, Microsoft now has an answer. The company reportedly started testing a fix with Windows Insiders a couple of months ago and now it is rolling the fix to everyone else now. The company is addressing the issue as CVE-2021-28312 (Windows NTFS Denial of Service Vulnerability).

As reported by Beta News, the fix came as a part of April’s patch - KB5001330 and KB5001337.

However, these latest updates are not everything good for Windows users though. In a separate report, the same updates apparently caused issues regarding the Windows 10 performance when it comes to gaming, error messages, screen flicker and more. Users even complained about these problems on Microsoft's support forum and message boards as well.

As per the report some users faced bootloops and error code 0xc000021a after installing the KB5001330 update. Few others faced error code 0x800f0984 when installing the same update.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has rolled out new updates to its OneDrive and Bing Search apps for Android users. The latest update comes with new features and refreshed UI for Bing users. Users can get the latest versions after updating the apps on Google Play Store. Separately, Microsoft is exploring a new way to allow its users to earn Microsoft Rewards point.
