Microsoft Surface Go 3 rumours: May make a major shift in processor

Microsoft recently brought its upgraded version of Surface Pro X in India and the ‘affordable’ Surface Laptop Go in the US. But the rumours and leaks for Surface Go 3 have started brewing up on the internet and we have our first set of information now. A forum post on Tablet PC Review suggests that the next-gen Surface Go may be powered by AMD Ryzen chips and one of the models could have a low 4.8W Thermal Design Power (TDP). This might make it as the first Surface Go model in years to switch from Intel processors to AMD.

Speculations are that moving to AMD chipset can make the device better when it comes to battery performance and might make the cost a bit more affordable than before.

This may add to Microsoft’s line of budget laptops, which recently got updated with Surface Laptop Go. When launched, the company pitched it as a device for students and for those with tight pockets. 

Sporting a light-weight design, the Surface Laptop Go sports a metal build with ice blue, platinum and a pinkish-gold color variants and has a fingerprint sensor to log in. This is powered by Windows Hello biometric authentication. Besides this, you get 13 hours of battery life and an 10th-gen Intel Core i5 processor. It has a 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and 1536x1024 pixels resolution. The device features up to 256GB of storage and up to 16GB RAM. 

The product starts at $549 in the US.
