A lot has been rumoured and leaked about Microsoft’s upcoming major update for Windows 10, called Sun Valley. The overhaul that we have seen on the web are mostly the illustrations and design mockups. But one of the features has now started showing up in the latest build of Windows 10. We are talking about the floating menus. As tweeted by a developer on Twitter (via Beta News) website, the new floating menu is seen in taskbar jumplists, which are the ones usually seen when you right click on the apps in the taskbar at the bottom.
However, as per the report, this floating menu design should also come to the main Start menu as well in future along with some other areas. The report adds that although the new design element is visible in the latest Windows 10 build, not everyone will be able to see it since it requires Visual Studio. The flag is JumpListRestyledAcrylic in ShellExperienceHost.exe and one need to toggle it to see it.
The major update coming to Windows 10 in the second half of this year, codenamed as ‘Sun Valley’ is expected to bring some UI changes to the icons as well. This includes rounding off corners in buttons and other elements like Start menu and Action Center and some changes to the legacy interfaces like File Explorer, File Properties, and copy dialogs so they are in sync with the redesigned UI.
As per a previous report by Windows Central, users will be able to switch between the current and new Start menu designs using a toggle. There could be some new animations as well that make the UI feel more fluid.
All this is said to come in addition to some new features.like battery usage chart, ‘News and Interests’ widget in taskbar and more.
