Windows 11 download: Not happening? You must do these 2 things first

Windows 11 will roll out as a refreshed version of the OS. It features a clean design with rounded corners with a centred Start menu and taskbar. The latter can be customised to appear on the usual left-hand side. However, in a recent poll, almost half the users said that they liked the new design. Windows 11 is moving to be more like macOS in terms of look and feel. If you are looking forward to upgrading to the latest OS you must not that it would not be possible unless you take these two extra steps and then only will you be able to download Windows 11.

Installing Windows 11 will require you to have a Microsoft account and internet connectivity. The process to set up the new OS is a bit different from the past. However, it is not difficult to access the latest Windows 11 features. Here's what you'll need to do before you can upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Home.

1. Create a Microsoft account

To set up Windows 11, you will need to have a Microsoft account. It is free to create one and it isn’t a difficult process. To recall, in the past it wasn’t necessary to create a Microsoft account. A Microsoft account will also allow a user to easily transfer from their old PC to a new one, and more options for signing in. Here’s how you can create a new account:

Step 1. Go to account.microsoft.com, and click Sign in.

Step 2. Tap Create one to make a new account. (You can sign in if you already have an account.)

Step 3. Enter your email address.

Step 4. Create a password, and click Next.

Step 5. Enter your country/region and date of birth, and click Next.

Step 6. Check your email for a verification code, and click Next. Done!

2. Connect to the internet

The past versions of Windows would let you set up the OS without connecting to the internet. However, Windows 11 will require you to stay connected to the internet. You'll also need the internet to perform future updates as well. This requirement may pose a problem for those who lack easy internet access. However, once connected for the initial setup, you won’t be required to connect again.
