Windows 11 new bug turns white to yellow!

Windows 11 is still pretty new and for a two-months old OS, certain bugs and issues are given. The latest one involves colours on HDR monitors that is giving a hard time to video editors. The new bug makes Windows 11 show white as bright yellow on certain HDR monitors when using a few image editors.

Microsoft has been notified of the same and has confirmed this to be an issue, There's still no reason given for the problem but Microsoft says a fix is on the way and will be delivered via one of the cumulative Windows updates. The issues was first reported by Tom's Hardware.

Windows 11 bug throws up inaccurate colours

“After installing Windows 11, some image editing programs might not render colors correctly on certain HDR displays. This is frequently observed with white colors, which could display in bright yellow or other colors,” says Microsoft on its blog.

“This issue occurs when certain color-rendering Win32 APIs return unexpected information or errors under specific conditions. Not all color profile management programs are affected, and color profile options available in the Windows 11 Settings page, including Microsoft Color Control Panel, are expected to function correctly,” adds Microsoft.

If you are one of the few affected users, you should know that Microsoft is working on a fix and the version may rollout by late January. Note that if you do not use a HDR monitor, you are not likely to see this issue replicated on your setup.

Windows 11, however, hasn't had the smoothest of the beginning yet. Ever since its launch, the OS has suffered a lot of bugs, with most critical one being lowered performance on AMD-powered PCs. Microsoft rolled out an update eventually to fix the issue within a few weeks.

Other than bugs, Microsoft has also removed certain utility features that were of great use on previous versions of Windows. For example, you cannot drag and drop files to the apps resting on the taskbar on Windows 11.
