Windows 11 Start Menu gets another upgrade and this one makes it BETTER

Windows 11 is getting another minor change that could cause a big impact on the user experience. When the Windows 11 update was released, the Start Menu got a vast amount of changes, including its position on the Taskbar. However, the design of the Start Menu allowed for limited pinned items and despite all the space available, one could not add any extra pinned items. Moreover, there is no option to add a folder for pinned items. Microsoft is now fixing these things with the latest Windows 11 2H22 update.

The Windows 11 2H22 update brings back some of the much requested features back to the Start Menu. One of them includes the return of the Start menu folder, which will now allow you to drag and drop a pinned item on another to create a new folder. Windows 11 adds a new animation to provide a hint for the same. Other than this, there are a couple of new additions to the Start Menu.

Windows 11 Start Menu gets some major changes

The Start Menu folders can be customised as well. Users will be able to rename folders, rearrange apps inside folders and even remove pinned apps from folders.

Additionally, users will be able to change the Start Menu layouts. So far, the Start Menu gave equal space to pinned items and recommended apps or documents. The new layouts will now allow this 50-50 layout, as well as two more layouts that give emphasis to either the pinned apps or the recommended items.

Going forward, Windows 11 will, however, get new features as and when Microsoft readies them. Windows 11 had so far been getting two annual updates in a year but the update delivery process will change in the coming months.

Additionally, there have been rumours of a Windows 12 in the works. Contrary to the initial promise when Windows 10 was said to be the last Windows ever and promote the concept of “Windows as a service”, Microsoft is now said to go with big version updates every three years. Not much is known about this Windows 12 update but you can expect Microsoft to introduce more design changes with this one along with a couple of new features.
