The wait for all those people eagerly waiting for JioPhone Next launch is almost over! The much awaited JioPhone Next smartphone will be launched today on the occasion of Diwali for the Indian market. The jointly developed smartphone by Reliance Jio and Google packs a Qualcomm chip and is priced at ₹6,499. JioPhone Next is the first smartphone offering by Reliance, which is targeting rural and low income buyers who are looking to buy their first smartphone. Reliance Jio has been selling feature phones till now in the form of JioPhone.
You can buy JioPhone Next by paying the full amount at one go, otherwise, you can go for a downpayment and easy EMIs. JioPhone Next downpayment is ₹1,999. DMI Finance has partnered with Reliance Retail to offer the JioPhone Next EMI option, which offers an instalment amount starting as low as ₹300. The duration available can be 18 months or 24 months.
However, those buying JioPhone Next via the EMI option should know that there is a device lock feature on the smartphone that can stop their access to the handset in case they fail to make their EMI payments, according to a report by Gadgets360.
Talking about its specifications, JioPhone Next comes with a Qualcomm developed quad-core chipset and is powered by a 3500 mAh battery. The smartphone’s 5.45 inch HD+ display is protected with the third generation Gorilla Glass and sports a 13 MP rear camera and 8MP selfie lens. JioPhone Next has 2GB RAM along with 32GB internal space.
JioPhone Next runs on the Pragati OS, which has been jointly developed by Jio and Google. Its Read Aloud and Translate feature has been incorporated to help the marginalised sections of society.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai had said that his company hopes to help bring this technology to as many as 300 million customers in India who are yet to rise beyond 2G by upgrading their phones to the smartphone and faster telecom networks through its partnership with Jio.
