Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus to skip microSD card slots

Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series will make its debut on January 14. There’s already a lot we know about the new flagship phones, and more keep coming as we get closer to the launch date. The latest leak on the Galaxy S21 series clears some confusion on the presence and absence of microSD card slots.

It was reported last week that the Samsung Galaxy S21 will not come with a microSD card slot. An uphtdate from leakster Roland Quandt clarifies the same and for the entire Galaxy S21 series. According to Quandt, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus will not feature microSD card slots but the Galaxy S21 Ultra will have one. Quandt added that this is most likely confirmed for the European region. There’s no word on whether the same will be applied to other markets as well.

Samsung currently offers the Galaxy S20 series with a hybrid setup for SIM and microSD card. Samsung is expected to offer the Galaxy S21 with 128GB as the base variant. The new flagship smartphones may be offered with 256GB and 512GB storage options as well with up to 12GB and 16GB of RAM.

It looks like Samsung is making some big changes to the Galaxy S21 series as it’s also rumoured to not bundle the charger with the phones. Apple made this change with its iPhone 12 series citing environmental reasons which was followed by Xiaomi for the Mi 11.

Samsung will make the Galaxy S21 series official on January 14. We’re expecting a new design, performance upgrades and possibly changes such as the removal of microSD card slots and charger.
