Apple just made it easier to find lost things with third-party additions to Find My network

Apple has rolled out an updated Find My app that allows third-party products to use the finding capabilities of the Find My network that comprises of millions of Apple devices. The company also introduced new third-party products that work with the Find My app from Belkin, Chipolo, and VanMoof.

The Find My network accessory program is a part of the Made for iPhone (MFi) program and is designed for any accessory developer who is looking to connect one of their existing or new product to the Find My network. Once approved, these products can be added to the Items tab and will also feature the “Works with Apple Find My” badge.

The three new Find My-enabled products are the first of the lot and include Vanmoof’s latest S3 and X3 e-bikes, Belkin’s Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds, and Chipolo’s One Spot item finder. 

These products will allow users to locate where they’ve left their bikes, their earbuds, their backpack, etc with the help of the Find My app. Apple has said that more third-party devices that are Find My-enabled will be announced soon.

Apple has also announced a draft specification for chipset manufacturers that will be released later this year. With this, third-party device makers will be able to use the Ultra Wideband technology in U1-equipped Apple devices to give users more precise and directionally aware locations.
