Apple’s new iPad with mini-LED tech will come by the first half of 2021

Apple has had a launch event every month for three months straight this year and while a Christmas surprise is allegedly still due, it’s time to focus on what Apple might have planned for next year.

According to popular analyst Ming Chi Kuo from TFI Securities, Apple will be launching a new iPad in the first half of 2021 which is going to feature a mini-LED display. This display is going to be a step up from the previous displays bringing them closer to the efficiency of an OLED display, as per reports. The mini-LED display is expected to allow better local dimming and better contrast ratio.

MacRumours has reportedly gotten a letter sent by Kuo to investors that hints at the fact that Apple will be working with a Taiwanese company called Career Technology which is expected to be a “key partner in the supply chain for Apple’s products in 2021”.

Career Technology also owns a soft board tech that Kuo claims will be used in the production of an iPad with a mini LED display.

Kuo had claimed earlier that Apple has planned the launch of six new products with mini LED tech and they are all expected to be revealed before the end of 2021.

Kuo had said that Apple will be launching a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a 27-inch iMac Pro, a 14.1-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌, a 10.2.-inch ‌‌iPad‌‌, and a 7.9-inch ‌‌‌iPad‌‌‌ mini.

He has also said that an an iPad Pro with mini-LED will be Apple’s first product with the new display tech, pegged to launch by the fourth quarter of 2020.

However, this letter to the investors indicates that something might have changed and now Apple is expected to introduce the first mini LED display iPad in the first half of next year. Additionally, according to Kuo, the new Airpods 3 will be launched in the first half of 2021 as well.

The new AirPods 3 are expected to be similar to the AirPods Pro in design, however, they are being pegged to be more affordable since Apple is reportedly planning to skip active noise-cancellation on the new AirPods 3.
