iOS 14.2 beta 2 brings new emojis, and some minor changes

Apple has rolled out the second beta of iOS 14.2 that comes with the new library of emoji announced recently. iPhone users will soon get 58 new emoji with the iOS 14.2 update. The new beta version also comes with some minor changes as well.

The new set of emoji are part of the Unicode 13 release. There are 58 new characters, faces, objects and animals in the latest emoji package. There’s the smiling face with tear emoji, and the disguised face emoji. Apple is also introducing gender variations with a man wearing a veil emoji, and a woman wearing a tuxedo emoji. More inclusivity in this emoji release include a gender-inclusive Mx Claus, and three different bottle-feeding people. Some other emojis in this release include the pinching finger, boba tea, blueberries, olive and more.

iOS 14.2 also brings some minor changes to the Home app with less rounded corners, and icons looking slightly different. This update also brings the new SpO2 app that Apple introduced for its smartwatch. Apple Watch users will also get the new watch faces soon. iOS 14.2 beta also lets you add the new Shazam button to the Control Centre menu. iPhone users can turn on the feature to recognise music playing even with their headphones on.

This beta version is for iOS developers, and not public users. Those who are already on the developer version should get this as an over-the-air update. It can also be downloaded and installed from the Apple Developer Center. Apple has so far released iOS 14.1, and it’s expected to roll out iOS 14.2 soon.
