The official release date of iOS 16.1 has finally been released. Apple will release iOS 16 on Monday, October 24, 2022. Along with iOS 16.1, Apple Fitness+ will also be made available for iPhone users to subscribe. Informing about the same, Apple said in a release, "Starting October 24, Apple Fitness+, the award-winning fitness and wellness service designed to be welcoming to all, will be available for iPhone users to subscribe to and enjoy, even if they don’t have an Apple Watch. With iOS 16.1, Fitness+ will be fully integrated with the Fitness app and located in the middle tab, available in all 21 countries where the service is offered."
With the launch of the iOS 16.1 Apple is expected to bring at least eight new features for the iPhone users, according to a report by MacRumors. It can be known that iOS 16 rolled out in the month of September and brought several new and exciting features to the iPhones like customizable lock screens, editing tools for Messages, and more. Apple will also be releasing iPadOS 16 and MacOS Ventura along with iOS 16.1 on Monday.
Other than some major bug fixes and refinements, iOS 16.1 is expected to bring features like the Apple Fitness+ without Apple Watch, new iCloud Shared Photo Library, Live Activities for Third-Party Apps; Clean Energy charging, and more. Here are some of the upcoming features iOS 16.1 will bring:
1. Apple Fitness+
Starting October 24, Fitness+ will be available for iPhone users to subscribe to and enjoy in the 21 countries it is offered in, even if they don’t have an Apple Watch. iPhone users will have access to the entire service featuring over 3,000 studio-style workouts and meditations. Users will also see onscreen trainer guidance and interval timing, and estimated calories burned will be used to make progress on their Move ring. With iOS 16.1, Fitness+ will be fully integrated with the Fitness app and located in the middle tab, where users can already stay motivated to close their Move ring through coaching, awards, activity sharing, and more. Users only need an iPhone to sign up, and can then experience Fitness+ on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
2. iCloud Shared Photo Library
With iOS 16.1 iPhone users will get a separate library for sharing photos and videos with up to five other people. iCloud Shared Photo Library will bring setup rules, library filters, and more. It will also allow iPhone users to add, edit, favorite, caption, and delete photos.
3. Live Activities
Live Activities from the third party applications will keep iPhone users up to date by showing interactive notifications on the lock screen. Also, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users will be able to see Live Activities in the Dynamic Island.
4. Clean Energy Charging
iOS 16.1 is expected to bring Clean Energy Charging to the iPhone which will try to reduce the carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available.
5. Wallet
According to reports, Wallets will get Key sharing which will enable iPhone users to securely share car, hotel room, and other keys in Wallet using messaging apps such as Messages and WhatsApp. While savings account will enable Apple Card customers to grow their Daily Cash by depositing it in a high yield savings account.
