Xiaomi takes on OnePlus with Snapdragon 845-powered Pocophone F1: Key specs revealed

The first phone under Poco by Xiaomi sub-brand is expected to launch sooner than expected. Dubbed Pocophone F1, the smartphone is going to be focused on delivering flagship-level experience at affordable prices. Ahead of the official launch of the first ever Poco phone, Xiaomi has announced a partnership with chipset giant Qualcomm, promising "performance like never before."

So far, Xioami has revealed that the phones under its Poco sub-brand will aim to be "powerful" and offer "not just peak performance speed, but actual, real world, speed." According to reports, Poco by Xiaomi will launch Pocofone F1 with Snapdragon 845 processor, Qualcomm's top-end chipset at the moment.

"Poco is all about making a powerful smartphone with the technologies that truly matter. Recently it feels like the pace of innovation in the smartphone industry has slowed down, while prices are creeping up with flagship smartphones now past the $1000 mark. We set out to build something to buck this trend. For the first product, we got to basics and focus entirely on speed. Not just peak performance speed, but actual, real world speed," Xiaomi's Jai Mani wrote in a Facebook post. 

Pocophone F1 has already made an appearance online ahead of the official launch. A listing on mysmartprice suggests the new Xiaomi phone will have a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display, 6GB of RAM, 4000mAh battery along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

Other important details of the phone, according to the listing, are 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear cameras, 20-megapixel selfie camera, and fingerprint sensor on the back. The website claims the Pocophone F1 will launch on September 30 and will be priced around ₹34,000.

Pocophone F1 is expected to be available in multiple variants 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. There will be four colour options - Red, Grey, Blue, and Gradient, and Kevlar.

Before the launch, Pocophone is already being pitted against OnePlus which too has a similar strategy of selling flagship-level phones at affordable prices. The rumoured PocoPhone is expected to compete with OnePlus 6 which is available in India starting ₹34,999. The phone comes with a 6.28-inch, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 845 processor and 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual cameras.
