Samsung launches Messaging app for Windows 10

Samsung has quietly launched a new application for Windows 10. Called Samsung Messaging, it allows users to send and receive text messages. At the moment, the application is compatible with a handful of devices, all of them are Samsung's.

According to Samsung, the new application is for users who have devices capable of using mobile data, including 4G LTE and 5G. Samsung devices that are compatible with the new messaging app are Galaxy TabPro S, Galaxy Book 10.6 LTE, Galaxy Book 12 LTE, Galaxy Book 2 and NT930QCA. Reports suggest NT930QCA is the codename for the Galaxy Flex 2 5G.

There is no word on when or whether the app will be rolled out for non-Samsung Windows 10 users.

It is worth noting that Samsung users can also use the Your Phone application for text messaging. Available for select Samsung Galaxy devices, Your Phone allows users to link their phone to Windows 10 PC. After linking, users can receive and manage real-time mobile notifications on their PC. Apart from texting, you can use the app to copy and paste content between PC and phone, drag files between the two devices, and access select mobile apps on the larger screen. There is also a calling option for users with Windows 10 PC running the May 2019 update or later with Bluetooth capability.

Separately, Samsung is discontinuing get location service for Galaxy Watch 3 users later this month. According to Sammobile, Galaxy Watch 3 users will continue to use the Find My Watch functionality through the Galaxy Wearable app to locate their device if it is in proximity. But the functionality to get the smartwatch’s rough location on a map through the Find My Watch feature is going away.
