Uber Eats delivers to space! And guess what ISS astronauts ordered

Now, you can get your favourite pizza delivered even if you're living onboard the International Space Station. Uber Eats has started its food delivery service to space. The food delivery app has announced its first food delivery to space last week. But it wasn't like a normal delivery offered by them.

Instead of sending a driver, Uber Eats delivered its food through Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa, who had gone for a 12-day mission to outer space in a Soyuz spacecraft. Maezawa delivered ready-to-eat canned Japanese foods along with a brown paper Uber Eats bag to astronauts in the International Space Station (ISS). The food delivery giant has shared a clip of Maezawa delivering food to the ISS crew through its Twitter handle. Sharing the clip they wrote, “Uber Eats delivery continues to evolve. One after another to places that are not delivering now.”

In the 25-second-clip, Maezawa can be seen entering the spacecraft with the Uber Eats brown bags. He can also be seen wearing a cap of the food company.

As per the official statement by Uber Eats, the food was delivered at 9.40 AM EST on 11 December after travelling a distance of 248 miles.

Astronauts were treated to several Japanese dishes including boiled mackerel in miso, beef bowl cooked in sweet sauce, simmered chicken with bamboo shoots, and braised pork.

This delivery was served in collaboration with the Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa. He started the trip to space from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhastan on Wednesday. To celebrate its success, Uber Eats had offered $10 off on the order of or above $20+ orders to the first 24,800 people with promo code SPACEFOOD. This offer was applicable between December 13 and19, 2021.

Meanwhile, Maezawa had made news for buying all the seats on SpaceX’s first tourist flight to the moon which is scheduled for 2023.
