AmazonBasics Fire TV Edition Ultra-HD TVs launched, prices start from ₹29,999

Amazon has just launched the AmazonBasics Fire TV Edition Ultra-HD TVs in India. With prices starting from ₹29,999, the smart TVs are going to be available in two sizes - 50-inches and 55-inches.

The AmazonBasics Fire TV Edition smart TVs come with 4K HDR LED display panels and support for both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for HDR and audio. These smart TVs will be taking on the likes of Xiaomi, TCL, Vu etc in this particular segment.

Both these new AmazonBasics Fire TV Edition TVs are already available on the Amazon India website and show two-day shipping for most metro cities.

We have already told you that the new smart TVs are available in two sizes - 50-inches and 55-inches. Both come with Ultra-HD LED screens (3840 x 2160 pixels) with support for HDR up to the Dolby Vision format. There is also support for Dolby Atmos and 20W speaker output.

The TVs are powered by quad core Amlogic processor and come with three HDMI ports and two USB ports for connectivity. The display comes with a peak refresh rate of 60Hz and promise viewing angle of up to 178-degrees.

The AmazonBasics TVs are Fire TV Edition devices and run Amazon's Fire TV OS. This is the same operating system that runs the Fire TV Stick range of streaming devices, as well as on Fire TV Edition TVs from other brands like Onida and Akai.

You do not necessarily need to use a Fire TV Stick for this TV, you can also connect your own set top box if you want.

Besides Amazon Prime Video, these TVs also support other services like Hotstar, Netflix, YouTube etc and can be downloaded from the app store just like you can with the Fire TV Stick.

Users can also use Alexa to play movies, music, shows etc as well as seek information and also control other IoT devices in your smart home ecosystem.

This is Amazon’s first entry into the TV segment and the company has priced its TVs around and in some cases, a little less, than the competition it is taking on.
