Apple removes one of its own apps from App Store, this might be the reason

Apple is on a spree when it comes to removing apps from its App Store. We already know about EPIC’s Fortnite. Just yesterday Stadium browser app head also said the iPhone maker is removing their app and today another one seems to have been removed. Only this time, it’s Apple’s own app – ‘Apple TV Remote’. The app reportedly got pulled as almost all its controls can now be accessed from the handset’s control centre.

However, this is just an assumption and Apple has not yet confirmed why it removed the app. As found by 9to5Mac, the company has also removed all the references to the ‌Apple TV‌ Remote app, indicating that the app doesn’t exist anymore. As you can also see in the Apple TV Remote support page, all references to the app have been removed.

The Apple TV Remote functionality made a debut in iPhone’s Control Centre with iOS 12 update a couple of years ago. This allowed users to access the same features more quickly as compared to the dedicated app.

On a related note, Apple has also decided to pull Stadium, a browser app that made it easier for users to play Stadia on iOS, from its App Store. Although Apple has not yet said anything about it, the new came from the Stadium browser creator Zachary Knox in the app’s Discord server. Unlike Google’s Stadia, XCloud or GeForce Now, Stadium streamed Stadia games via a web browser, which is technically allowed by Apple. However, the iPhone maker seems to have an issue with how Stadium is “extending WebKit with native APIs to connect with Bluetooth.”
