Xiaomi Mi TV Stick launched globally: Here’s what this Amazon TV Stick rival does

Just a few days ago Xiaomi introduced its Mi Box 4K streaming device in India and now it has globally introduced a more compact video streaming product called Mi TV Stick. The product can be called as a rival to Amazon Fire TV Stick since it features the same thumb drive form factor and has nearly the same capabilities. This was launched alongside the electric scooter, Redmi 9 series, TWS earbuds, Mi Smart Band 5 and 34-inch 144Hz gaming display at the company’s ecosystem 2020 product launch in the UK.

The Android TV-based Mi TV Stick features Dolby and DTS powered surround sound support and even has Google Assistant built-in to make content searching easier. The product also includes Chromecast. Powered by a quad-core CPU, the streaming stick has 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage. It comes with a Bluetooth remote controller as well that looks a lot like the remote control that comes with the Mi Box 4K. it has dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix, and Prime Video. It also supports FHD resolution videos at 60fps.

The device is priced at EUR 39.99, which roughly means ₹3,400 for the single 1080p variant. The availability details are yet to be known.

This is company’s first attempt at a streaming video stick. The Mi Box 4K is more powerful as it can support 4K videos as well with HDR10 support and more. Like the Mi TV Stick, it has built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant as well. The Mi Box 4K also comes with a 'Data Saver' feature that lets you watch more videos while consuming less internet data.
