Xiaomi is working on a new product that will compete with Amazon’s Fire TV stick and Google’s Chromecast. Dubbed as Mi TV stick, key details about the new device have already leaked online.
Last week, Mi TV stick made an appearance on Google Play Console. The listing also gave away key specifications of the dongle. According to the listing, Xiaomi’s Fire TV stick-rival will run on Amlogic 1.2GHz AMLS805Y processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores.
It will have 750MHz Mali 450 for graphics. The dongle will also have 1GB of RAM. On the software front, it will run Google’s Android Pie and is likely to have lots of customisations on top.
Mi TV stick is said to be priced around $71, which is ₹5,292. Right now, there is no word on whether the device will release in markets outside China.
That said, Xiaomi’s Mi TV stick will be competing with Google’s upcoming streaming dongle. Codenamed Sabrina, Google’s Android TV stick will still have that familiar circular design but will function like the Fire TV stick. The Google device is also said to come with a remote control with a circular D-pad and shortcuts for launching Google Assistant and other functionalities.
