Best video games of 2022 (so far): The year 2022 has been an exciting journey when it comes to the video games released so far. Unlike the previous year, we have not seen any big disasters like Cyberpunk 2077 or eFootball 2022 where both the games suffered from creating high expectations but under-delivering on them. On the whole, the year 2022 has seen vast improvements with video games offering amazing graphics, better storylines and immersive gameplays. So, at the halfway point of the year, we had to mention the best video games of 2022, according to us. For us, the spotlight was stolen by Diablo Immortal, Evil Dead, Sniper Elite 5, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. So check out the full list below.

Also, we have to mention Wordle as an honorary mention to the list. While Wordle doesn't qualify as a modern video game and thus has been excluded from the list, this simple word game has taken the entire world by a storm. And whether you have played the game or not, unless you have been living under a rock, you have definitely heard of it.

The game was released on June 2 and it was going to be one of those titles which would either be loved or absolutely hated. The game was criticised by the fans who did not like the PC franchise taking a turn for the mobile-first ecosystem with microtransaction model. While the public opinion of the publisher Blizzard is still out for vote, the game has turned out as a game changer. The game manages to bring its PC-like graphics to a mobile friendly ecosystem without ever feeling out of place, and the controls are very intuitive on mobile devices, making the dungeon-themed gameplay very immersive and fun to play.

Evil Dead: The Game

Platform: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows

As a franchise, everyone is aware of Evil Dead. Whether the movies do well or not, the game adaptations are always loved by gamers of all ages and preferences. Evil Dead: The Game presents the nostalgia of the older games wrapped around modern visuals, gameplay and controls. The game brings a fun multiplayer experience where you can either pick the Necronomicon slayer heros like Ash Williams or Henry The Red or command an entire Army of Darkness. Whether you choose to fight for your survival or cause chaos as the overlord of evil and try to possess the heros, you are sure to have a good time.

Sniper Elite 5

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows

Developed and published by Rebellion Developments, Sniper Elite 5 is a third-person tactical shooter stealth video game that is surprisingly refreshing once you can get past its ultraviolence. The game has built the levels very carefully and it shows in its missions. While the game is not an innovation genius, it is incredibly fun to face off and kill Nazis across amazing settings and smooth gameplay.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Platform: PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows

The next on our list of best games of 2022 is an action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. Ghostwire: Tokyo offers stunningly terrifying visuals, an immersive gameplay and a storyline that will keep you hooked. From the enemy design to cityscapes, there is hardly a dull moment in the game. Some players do feel the game can get a bit grindy at times, but that doesn't really affect the enjoyability of the game.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Platform: Nintendo Switch

The last in our list of best video games of 2022 includes a Pokemon game. It is widely known that innovating a Pokemon game is quite difficult. The game sells because of its formula, and the anime series follows based on the game. And in the last 26 years since the first Pokemon game, it has not really been an issue. But Pokemon Legends: Arceus has highlighted how refreshing the game can be if things were changed. The action adventure RPG throws you back in time to help compile the first Pokedex and this time the focus is less on battles and more on research.
