iPhone 14 could face a similar fate as the iPhone 12! The global manufacturing scene has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing major shutdowns across affected countries. And Apple is among the many companies getting badly hit by this phenomenon. The iPhone 14 may witness the delays in its production, which could eventually lead to Apple delaying its launch as well, suggest the latest industry information.

A report from Digitnews says that Apple's component makers and hardware assemblers could be forced to delay the iPhone 14 launch. The delay is primarily due to the another wave of the COVID-19 pandemic forcing lockdowns across several countries, which is eventually forcing production halts, or limited production. This could eventually affect the launch cycle, considering the handset is supposed to go into mass production soon.

It is not all grim for Apple though. A report from The WSJ says that Apple suppliers in Shanghai and surrounding areas are resuming production. “Nearly all affected final assembly plants have now restarted. We are pleased that the number of infections reported in Shanghai has decreased over the past few days.,” says Apple Coo Tim Cook.

Cook also said that while all its suppliers have reopened, it could take some time for the factories to return to the regular production levels. Although Cook did not say anything regarding how this could affect the iPhone 14's launch, industry experts have their concerns.

Note that Shanghai and the nearby provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang have the highest concentrations of Apple suppliers. “There are 31 such companies in Shanghai, 79 in Jiangsu province. Another 7 are located in Zhejiang province,” says the report.

The iPhone 14 is going to be another mild update over the iPhone 13, except for one big change — the Max variant. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 13 Mini will be the last of its kind and Apple will replace it with an iPhone 14 Max. It will sit between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro in terms of pricing, and offer the 6.7-inch notched display from the iPhone 13 Pro Max. What remains to be seen is whether Apple gives it the 120Hz ProMotion display this year. The iPhone 14 Pro variant will oversee some massive upgrades this year in cameras, display, design, and performance bits.
