iPhone SE 3rd Gen is not selling as much as expected! Prior to Apple unveiling the “new” iPhone SE at the “Peak Performance” event on March 8, there were huge expectations from Apple to do well with the sales part. After all, Apple was updating its most affordable iPhone after two years and with 5G onboard, the new iPhone SE was expected to be a smash hit with the consumers. That is not the case as it seems, as research shows there's weaker demand for the new iPhone SE 3 this year.

Based on a research report from Wave7 shared via PCMag, a survey caried out in carrier stores in the US suggests that the iPhone SE 3's demand is weaker this time. In fact, it is much weaker than the demand for the iPhone SE 2nd Gen, which saw better numbers in 2020 despite the pandemic situations. Even Ming-Chi Kuo, the popular Apple analyst, also suggested that the iPhone SE 3 is witnessing lower demand than Apple had anticipated.

iPhone SE 3rd Gen not selling well

In the survey, many participants said that the not many people are aware of the iPhone SE 3 despite all the hype. Apple hasn't advertised or promoted the new iPhone SE as much as the previous generation model. Hence, there is a lack of awareness among people in the United States about the iPhone SE 3.

Some have also said that the retro design of the iPhone SE 3 could be putting off many customers. The iPhone SE 3rd Gen is second smallest phone Apple sells at the moment, but has the smallest display of all iPhones in the lineup. The 4.7-inch display is tiny, especially with the huge bezels surrounding the phone.

Note that this data relates to the US market only. In India, the iPhone SE 3 falls in the same category as the flagship killer devices from the Android universe. Starting at Rs. 43,900, the iPhone SE 3 competes with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G, iQOO 9, Xiaomi 11T Pro, and a couple of others – all of which look modern with their bezel-less displays and larger batteries.

We reviewed the iPhone SE back in March 2022 and while the small display did put us off, the phone impressed with its reliability in the harsh Indian conditions, decent battery life, and a very stable camera experience. Plus, the iPhone SE 3 is expected to get six years of OS updates at the very least.
