There has been much speculation about Jio 5G phone launch date. Tremendous interest has built around this phone as it promises a raft of features and it is likely to be priced in India at just around ₹4000, not to mention its 5G capability. As per latest reports, Jio 5G Reliance Industries is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 24 and the company is expected to make several announcements about its products and services including Reliance Jio and JioFiber. Notably, this year, we're expecting new hardware launches as well - perhaps even the Jio 5G phone and the JioBook laptop. Reliance Jio and Google have already announced that the two companies are working together to build a low-cost smartphone. This phone could debut at the Reliance AGM this week.

Reliance already offers low-cost smart feature phones including the Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2. It has been years since the company launched a new phone. Reliance is expected to complete the development of the Jio 5G phone by May-June which means it should be ready for launch this week. The official launch is expected to take place around August-September which is when the Jio 5G phone could go on sale.

The Jio 5G smartphone will reportedly run on Google's Android OS which is tailor-made for low-cost smartphones. But the company could use a custom Android OS called JioOS for the Jio 5G phone. This customised Android version will be important to integrate Jio services on the Jio 5G phone. Reliance and Google together have reportedly developed the Jio 5G phone that can provide high-end experience without expensive materials.

According to a Bloomberg report, the Jio 5G phone price will be around ₹4,000. This would make it the most affordable 5G smartphone in India. The company also plans to sell 150 to 200 million units of the Jio 5G phone within a span of two years. Reliance is also expected to bundle the Jio 5G phone with affordable Jio prepaid and postpaid plans.

4. What is JioBook all about?

The rumoured JioBook is also expected to make its debut at the AGM along with the 5G phone. In terms of specs, the JioBook is said to feature an HD display, and it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with Snapdragon X12 4G modem. The laptop could come with 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. It will also feature a mini-HDMI connector, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
