As telecom companies get set to roll out 5G services next month, Reliance Jio is planning to bring its affordable Jio Phone 5G handset at an affordable price later this year. While Jio has already confirmed that the handset is in the making, a new report has just leaked its price online. The handset is speculated to be priced between Rs. 8000 and Rs. 12000 in India. As per a recent report by Counterpoint Research, the upcoming Jio Phone 5G will be placed between price range of Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 12,000 to target the affordable segment smartphone consumers.
The report suggests that the telecom company aims to offer a sub-$100 to sub-$150 (INR 8,000-INR 12,000) affordable 5G smartphone to attract the mass-market 4G smartphone users to its 5G network. It also says, “at some point in 2024, Jio will also be compelled to launch an affordable 5G mmWave + Sub-6 GHz smartphone as the cost deltas between the two would have narrowed significantly from the BoM perspective.” However, the exact launch date is yet to be revealed.
An update from CounterPoint, says that the abovementioned prices are just speculations based on the research and there is no confirmation on the same.

Jio Phone 5G expected launch date in India
The Jio Phone 5G is expected to arrive soon as 5G services roll out in India. Though there is no official word yet, the handset could be introduced later this year in the country.

Jio Phone 5G is expected to be an entry-level smartphone with some basic features. As reported, the handset is likely to come with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel featuring HD+ (1,600 x 720 pixel) resolution and a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. Under the hood, the Jio Phone 5G will rely on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor paired with an Adreno 619 GPU. The phone could offer 4GB of RAM and 32GB of user-expandable storage.
On the camera front, it could pack a dual camera setup, comprising a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro lens, on the rear and an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calling. Further, it would be powered by a large 5000mAh with up to 18W charging support through a USB Type-C port.
On the software front, the budget 5G phone may run on the same Pragati OS as Jio Phone Next.
