Oppo Reno 5 Marvel Edition inches closer to launch

The smartphone has appeared on Thailand’s NBTC certification site. The listing reveals phone special edition of Reno 5 doesn’t come with 5G support.

Oppo will soon launch a new smartphone under its Reno 5 series. Called Reno 5 Marvel Edition, the smartphone has appeared in multiple leaks in the past. The official launch appears to be closer as the phone has been certified by Thailand's NBTC.

The listing does not reveal full specifications of the Reno 5 Marvel Edition but confirms it does not come with 5G support. GSMArena points out (via Mysmartprice) that the phone comes with CPH2159 which is the same as Reno 5 4G. The same model number suggests the phone will be based on the 4G version.

While the specs may not be different from the 4G version of Reno 5, the phone will distinguish itself with Marvel-themed icons and wallpapers.

As far specifications go, the special edition of Reno 5 is said to come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 720G processor. A 4,310mAh battery will power the phone. It will be coupled with 50W charging as well.

The smartphone will reportedly come with a 6.43-inch 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display. It will also have an in-screen fingerprint reader. It will also have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. The phone is likely to run on Android 11-based ColorOS 11, adds the report.

In the photography department, you can expect the phone to offer a 44-megapixel selfie camera. On the back, it is likely to offer a 64-megapixel quad-camera setup.

Oppo recently launched Reno 5 Pro 5G in India. The handset is available for ₹35,990.

The Reno 5 Pro 5G has a 6.4-inch full HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs MediaTek's Dimensity 1000+ chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM. The phone has 256GB of built-in storage. A 4,350mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging powers the phone.

The phone offers a quad-camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone also comes with a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.
